Born Grand Isle, Maine (confirmed in death record), baptized July 15, 1830, at St. Basile, Victoria, New Brunswick, Canada. (Due to the fact that there were no Catholic Parishes on this side of the border, until St. Luce, Frenchville, Aroostook, Maine established in 1847, all Catholic persons baptized before 1847 were at St. Basile) She was the youngest child of Simon Thibodeau and Marie-Claire Violet. Godparents: Michel Mercure and Marie Boutin.

Baptismal record is the only place I've seen the name Dorothee used.

Tragic Childhood
By the age of 8, Marie Dorothee was an orphan having lost both father (when she was an infant) and her mother (at age 8).

Married ~1850 (based on birth of first child). No marriage record has yet been found.

1850 Census for Hancock Plantation (now Fort Kent, Maine), spelled Aren, age 28, unmarried, working at the C.R. Bodfish lumber mill. Living next door is his future wife Mary (Dorothee) Thibodeau living with her sister Angele (Thibodeau) Pelkey.
