Place of Birth

Aaron's place of birth has always been a mystery for the following reasons. In the 1850 and 1860 census records it states that he was born in Maine. The 1870 census states he was born in New Hampshire. The marriage record of his son David Jackson says Aaron was born in New Hampshire.

Also confusing was his birth year. The 1850 census places his birth year as 1822, the 1860 census at 1815 and the 1870 census at 1810.

Aaron Jackson's parents Benjamin and Patience (Prescott) Jackson were both born in New Hampshire. (see Benjamin Jackson II and Patience Prescott) They moved to Maine c. 1803. I believe that Aaron was born in Maine, probably Monmouth as that is where his parents were in 1810. With all the family history from New Hampshire it is likely that he or some of his siblings may have been born in either state.
